Marielle, Lucile, Dorothée, and Rita live in Saint-Cibole in nineteen-hundred-and-loose. Seeking to understand where their husbands keep disappearing to, they discover the existence of a powerful, male-only French-Canadian secret society: La Patente. Founded in 1926 in Vanier, Ontario, this order worked in the shadows for nearly forty years to organize and protect French-Canadian heritage.
Disguising themselves as priests, they infiltrate the order—only to discover that this heritage is in danger. Rather than staying home while everything is decided in secrecy and exclusion, they decide that heritage is saved out loud, setting off on a tour to sing about it everywhere La Patente holds sway.
