Job Summary
We are a well-established and respected family-owned real estate investment and development business based in Kingston, seeking a seasoned Director of Finance to lead our high-performing team.

Reporting directly to ownership, this role is responsible for overseeing the financial health of our operations, including financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, cash management, and team leadership, while working closely with external advisors to support ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end financials.
  • Approve online payments, electronic workflows, and daily cheque runs.
  • Oversee and review annual budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor and report on project budgets and financial performance.
  • Maintain corporate records and intercompany loan balances.
  • Manage corporate tax filings including T2s, T3s, T5s, and partnership returns, as well as monthly tax installments.
  • Oversee bi‑monthly payroll processing, including T4s, ROEs, employee remittances, and garnishments.
  • Oversee HST, EHT, and WSIB reporting and annual reconciliations.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for CRA correspondence, audits, and notices of assessment.
  • Manage employee onboarding and offboarding, payroll changes, benefits administration, and employee records.
  • Track and administer GICs, mortgages, and other financing instruments.
  • Manage banking relationships, financing renewals, lender reporting, and cash management activities.
  • Liaise with external partners, including accountants, lawyers, banks, and auditors.
  • Lead and delegate work across the accounting team, including daily prioritization and workload planning.
  • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and other financial insights to ownership as required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accounting controls.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • CPA designation required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance; real estate industry preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, payroll, and corporate tax compliance.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Yardi software experience is an asset.

Pay: $150,000.00-$175,000.00 per year
