Free Tax Clinic
Through the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, community organizations host free tax clinics where volunteers file tax returns for eligible people. ACFOMI is here to help you prepare your return.
Free Tax Clinic Hours:
Every Monday from March 1st to April 23, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Length of each appointment:
45 minutes
Appointments are in person or by videoconference
Eligibility :
Modest Income
In general, a modest income means your total family income is below the thresholds shown in the table below depending on the size of your family.

2 persons $45 000
3 persons $47 500
4 persons $50 000
5 persons $52 500
5+ persons $52 500 + $2 500 for each additional person
Simple fiscal situation
In general, a fiscal situation is simple when an individual has no income, or income from the following:
- Employment
- A pension
- Benefits like the Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Disability benefits, Employment benefits, or Social Assistance
- A Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
- Alimony
- Scholarship, fellowships, bursaries, or grants
- Interest (less than $1,000
ACFOMI tax clinic volunteers are not able to assist individuals with complex tax situations. Your tax situation is defined as complicated if:
- You are an independent worker or have work expenses
- You have business or rental income and expenses
- You have capital gains or losses
- You sold your primary residence
- You declared bankruptcy during the taxable year (or the previous year, if taxes have not yet been filed)
- The tax return is for a deceased person
Required Documents:
- A piece of Government issued identification, preferably with a photo. Example: Driver’s license
- They must have in their hand their various fiscal slips (T3, T4, T5, T4RIF and others)
- Their medical, charity, political, other receipts
- Their SIN (social insurance number)
- A copy of their return (notice of assessment?) from the previous year
