Ontario Elections 2022
To support francophone voters in the Thousand Islands in the upcoming elections on June 2, ACFOMI sent a letter to candidates from all 5 ridings covering its territory.
In this letter, candidates were invited to answer 3 questions regarding francophone issues and their electoral platform before May 23, 2022
Below, you can find the 3 questions we sent as well as the responses we’ve received so far. Responses will be added as we receive them.
Question 1
What would be your top priority for Francophones in your riding if elected in June?
Question 2
The new French Language Services Act allows the Minister of Francophone Affairs to designate government services under the French Language Services Act, including non-designated areas. Is there a government service in your riding that you will work on to have designated?
Question 3
The main obstacle to the Francophonie is the shortage of Francophone and bilingual workers. How do you plan to increase the pool of Francophone and bilingual workers in your riding?
