Full job description

Our client is in the building materials industry. They are looking for a full-time General Manager to join their team based in Kingston, OntarioThis is an on-site position.

The General Manager’s role is to oversee daily operations, align teams with strategic goals, and ensure the business operates efficiently. This includes managing budgets, processes, and employees while driving productivity and fostering collaboration. A strong communicator and decisive leader, the General Manager focuses on achieving financial targets, improving operations, and identifying growth opportunities.

Some of your key responsibilities in this role will include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to improve productivity, efficiency, and growth
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring team performance aligns with company goals
  • Managing budgets and resource allocation to optimize profitability
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, shareholders, and clients to support business objectives
  • Collaborating across departments to enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Recruiting, training, and mentoring employees to build a high-performing team
  • Identifying opportunities for business expansion and fostering new client relationships
  • Reviewing operational processes, introducing innovative changes, and remaining flexible to step in as a hands-on leader
  • Providing consistent feedback and guidance to employees for skill development and professional growth

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years proven experience in a managerial or people leadership role
  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related discipline
  • Strong decision-making, delegation, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing financial and operational plans
  • A solid background in sales, with the ability to identify market opportunities and drive results
  • Knowledge of the construction or manufacturing industry is required
  • Flexibility to adapt to dynamic challenges and lead by example as a hands-on leader
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A relationship-building mindset and a team-oriented approach, thriving in a collaborative environment
  • French – English bilingualism is considered an asset
