Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Bench Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Bench Technician, you will play a critical role in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining IT hardware and software in-house. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot a wide range of issues in a fast-paced environment. Your expertise will ensure that our clients’ equipment is restored to optimal performance efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Perform in-house repairs and maintenance on a variety of hardware, including desktops, laptops, servers, and peripherals.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot software and hardware issues, providing accurate and timely resolutions.
- Conduct system installations, upgrades, and configurations as required.
- Test and verify repaired equipment to ensure optimal performance before returning to the client.
- Provide remote technical support to clients when needed, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving software issues.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all repairs, diagnostics, and troubleshooting steps in the ticketing system.
- Keep inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring timely reordering as necessary.
- Collaborate with the onsite and remote support teams to address escalated issues and implement solutions.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance service quality.
Additional Duties Include:
- Assemble, configure, and test new computer systems for deployment to clients.
- Perform hardware upgrades, including memory, storage, and CPU replacements.
- Ensure proper data backup and recovery processes during hardware servicing.
- Assist with imaging and configuring systems for deployment in alignment with client specifications.
- Manage small in house projects, like software rollouts, large deployments, etc
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are a plus.
- Proven experience as a bench technician or in a similar IT support role.
- Strong knowledge of the standard SMB technology stack, with a primary focus on Windows-based systems.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VPN.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.
- Familiarity with hardware diagnostics tools and techniques.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working at a workbench for extended periods.
