Job Summary

As the Assistant Manager you will work alongside the General Managers providing leadership to the management team, front of house staff, and back of house staff. You will help in the management of controlling costs and inventory, the maintenance of the building, the operations of the bar and restaurant, and the management of staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruitment, onboarding and training of all colleagues and supervisors
  • Create staff schedules and monitoring of day-to-day shifts to minimize payroll costs
  • Assist in facility maintenance through ensuring furniture, fixtures, equipment and the dining room is well maintained and clean
  • Handle guests concerns and react quickly and professionally
  • Assists with the development of creative menus, wine lists, service delivery and standards of all restaurant operations
  • Achieve planned labour targets through proper management
  • Positive attitude and a consistent calm disposition, with the ability to deal with any problems that may come up while on shift
  • Identify opportunities in the front of house and kitchen to improve profitability
  • Monitor all kitchen operations including food safety, food handling and food storage
  • Responsible of daily cash counting/depositing, inputting payroll, and recording the sales
  • Work closely with the general manager to control purchases and inventory of liquor, wine, and general supplies

Required Education, Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years Food & Beverage Supervisory / Management experience
  • Must have a high level of organizational and communicative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers and restaurant software programs (Open Table/ Touch Bistro)
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Strong leadership and development skills
  • University/College degree in a related discipline preferred (Hospitality, Business, Marketing, etc)
  • Must be able to work days/nights/weekends/holidays

  • Evening shift
  • Monday to Friday
  • Morning shift
  • Night shift
  • Weekends as needed

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Kingston, ON K7L 1B9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
